Pacific Northwest Old-Growth Forest Marriage Proposal

Nicolas proposed to Mariko surrounded by trees up to 1,000 years old without another person in sight. It was their very first trip to Washington, and the proposal was planned in just a week, sight unseen. Nicolas had emphasized wanting a private location somewhere lush and green, maybe even with a waterfall, and this old-growth forest in Olympic National Park delivered.

High school sweethearts from Arizona, Nicolas and Mariko, have been together for seven years. Stereotypically, on the day of the proposal, it rained all day, but it didn’t bother these two in the least.

They passed me on the fern-covered trail and stopped at two towering trees. Nicolas dropped to one knee and asked for Mariko’s hand in marriage with her grandmother’s ring stored in the most picturesque glass terrarium. After a few big smiles and happy tears, they were officially engaged!

Then we hiked through a moss-covered forest to a nearby waterfall. You really can have a bit of everything in the Pacific Northwest!

Congratulations Nicolas and Mariko!
