Ruby Beach Surprise Proposal

When I think of the Olympic National Park’s rugged coast, Ruby Beach is the first place that comes to mind. It’s easily accessible, has dramatic sea stacks, tide pools, driftwood, and the most iconic sunsets. In fact, I would go as far as to say it’s Washington’s most beautiful beach.

When Brian told me about his plan to propose to Sam — with a message in a bottle — we both agreed Ruby Beach was the best spot for it.

The plan worked perfectly. A few weeks before heading to Washington, Brian shipped the bottle to me. When he and Sam arrived at Ruby Beach, I meandered ahead of them, with Brian sneakily following behind. I planted the bottle in a secluded spot and went up the beach to wait from afar.

They found the bottle as they walked down the beach. It only took a few seconds for Sam to realize what was going on, and she immediately started wiping away happy tears.

They took in the moment together before Brian pointed me out and introduced Sam and me. From there, we wandered around the beach, exploring the sea stacks and running away from incoming waves.

When the sun was about to set, they requested one last photo. Everywhere they go, they take a photo of them doing a heel click. I imagine this image will be their favorite photo in that series.

Congratulations, Brian and Sam!
