Lake Crescent Elopement
Devon and Chris chose to elope in Washington because it’s always been a dream of Devon’s to visit. Photos of the Pacific Northwest have always caught her eye, and eloping was the perfect reason to finally visit. With so much romanticizing of this location, I was a bit timid to ask her what she thought of it, but I was so happy when she said it all exceeded her expectations!
Visiting from Florida, they chose to elope in the Olympic National Park because of the rainforest. They centered their entire day around the forest — including their first look amongst ferns, a ceremony surrounded by the giant trees, and even their celebratory hike afterward.
Their ceremony location at Lake Crescent was perfect for their group. It was large enough for 16 guests and easily accessible. It is such an unknown spot that I wouldn’t be surprised if these two were the first to be wed under these trees.
They chose to self-solemnize for their ceremony — walking themselves through their ceremony — rather than hiring an officiant. After finishing their personalized vows, a friend announced them as married and their loved ones cheered.
With the ceremony wrapped up, their loved ones went back to their lodging to set up their reception while Devon, Chris and I adventured on a nearby trail to Marymere Falls. Up until this point, we hadn’t seen another person outside their group, but this is where that changed.
Marymere Falls is very popular, and they happily accepted all the well wishes they received along the trail. It certainly made the seclusion of their ceremony feel that much more special.
When they got to the top of the trail to view the waterfall (many stairs later) they glowed with happiness. I had a blast watching Devon and Chris take in all the scenery in my favorite national park. It’s always a joy to see others appreciate what you love and it’s always a privilege to be a part of such a special time in someone’s life.
