Washington State Proposal: Lakeside Picnic Surprise
From Florida, it was Nick and Crystal’s first time visiting the Pacific Northwest. Nick said he’s been thinking about how to propose to Crystal for about a year, but really started to nail plans down a few weeks before their visit.
He knew Crystal’s favorite landscapes were lakes with mountains in the background and had already picked out Lake Crescent in the Olympic National Park as the spot to propose when he contacted me. I helped suggest more private locations along the lake, and that’s when things really started moving forward.
Nick planned everything needed to set up a grand picnic — from getting flowers delivered to the Lake Crescent Lodge, to treats from Sur Argentine Bakery as a nod to his heritage.
When they arrived at Lake Crescent, Nick had Crystal blindfolded, so her first look at the lake would be where he proposed. She finally saw the lake and was in awe of the views.
Then, he led her over to the picnic, and after saying a few sweet things, got down on one knee. Crystal said yes, of course, and after soaking in the moment and the views for a while, Nick pointed me out.
Crystal and I were introduced, and when I told her that Nick was responsible for curating the entire picnic, she exclaimed, “He even got our favorite food!” then corrected herself and said, “No — all of those are MY favorite things!” Nick had truly thought through every detail!
We explored the trails in the forest nearby before they returned to the picnic to enjoy the rest of their evening together relaxing on the lakeshore. It was as romantic as any evening could get!
