Cape Flattery Surprise Proposal

There is no better place to find diversity in the landscape than in the Olympic National Park. When Stephanie reached out to me about photographing her surprise proposal to Madison with Cape Flattery in mind, I knew it was perfect for them based on their interests.

Cape Flattery’s viewpoints are high above the ocean, allowing you to watch the waves crash onto the cliffs and swirl into sea caves. It’s incredibly beautiful.

However, Stephanie still had hesitations — they’d only been to Washington once before, but never to the Olympic Peninsula. Would Cape Flattery hold up to her high expectations?

Yes!

On the day of the proposal, Madison immediately proclaimed this trail would be the perfect spot to propose, saying she wished she had a ring on her. When they got to the viewpoint I was waiting at, and I un-suspiciously got them in front of my camera, she still had no idea what was about to happen.

After a few minutes of snuggles and proclamations of love (I’m guessing here, I was too far away to hear what was said), Stephanie got down on one knee and asked for Madison’s hand in marriage.

Madison was so surprised this trip to Washington “for Stephanie’s birthday” was really a grand ruse for Stephanie to propose on the same day they met. Of course, she said yes!

After the initial shock had worn off, the three of us explored the rest of the trail, taking more photos along the way. The boardwalk trail is so picturesque, and each viewpoint was incredibly beautiful and unique.

You’ll also notice they brought binoculars with them. It was such a fun way to share the experience. We saw so many interesting birds, but the highlight was the otter swimming below and watching the sunset over the Pacific.

Congratulations on your engagement, Stephanie and Madison!
