Cape Flattery Surprise Proposal
There is no better place to find diversity in the landscape than in the Olympic National Park. When Stephanie reached out to me about photographing her surprise proposal to Madison with Cape Flattery in mind, I knew it was perfect for them based on their interests.
Mount Rainier Elopement
On the day of Evan and Kelly’s elopement, I woke up and immediately went to check the conditions at Mount Rainier from my dining room window. Even though their wedding took place during the first week of September, Rainier is the tallest mountain around and can create its own cloud coverage no matter the season. Visiting in summer gives you the best odds of seeing the mountain, but there is always a chance that it could be covered in clouds.
Road Tripping to Glacier National Park
Is anyone else feeling antsy from being home during the pandemic for so long!? Zach and I have found the perfect solution for safe and nearly hassle-free travel (no wild airports, extremely long waits for rental cars, etc.!). Road trips! Back in 2020, we road tripped to Moab with Zach’s family, and during the summer of 2021 Zach and I visited Glacier National Park.
Mount Rainier Forest Elopement
Have you ever hiked with someone who has so much joy they can’t help but skip, jump, and twirl up the path? That’s what hiking with Janette is like. As the rest of us walked, Joseph looked on admiringly, explaining that this is how she always hikes.
Mountain Elopement in Washington State
Meeting Erin and Kevin in person for the first time this month felt like meeting an old pen pal. We’ve been planning their elopement since November of 2019, so we’ve gotten to know each other well through the ups and downs of the pandemic. Let’s just say they are the kindest, most patient people ever.
Winter Olympic National Park Engagement
The Olympic National Park is full of so many incredible, yet easily accessible, locations. This lake, in particular, is one of my favorite spots to visit. It has everything you could want in one location — mountains, a lake with a picturesque dock, forest, and even a waterfall if you’re willing to hike. Like magic, the mountains look good no matter the weather, so it’s truly a gem to see.
How to Elope in Moab, Utah
Why is Moab an ideal place to elope? To start, they only get nine inches of rain annually, so you’re nearly guaranteed to have blue skies and sunshine when you visit!
Four Days in Moab, Utah
Moab is home to three, incredibly noteworthy parks — Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Dead Horse State Park. Each is distinct and gorgeous. Within and around the parks are plenty of opportunities for off-roading, mountain biking, climbing, hiking, and rafting. Moab is an adventurer’s paradise!
Mt. Rainier Anniversary Portraits
Nick and Latasha are from Florida, which made this adventure session extra special. Not only was it their first time seeing Mount Rainier, but it was also their first time visiting the Pacific Northwest! They planned the trip for their fourth anniversary, and, as a present, Nick organized setting up their shoot with me (cue the awww’s).
Mount Rainier Hiking Maternity Photos
Tricia and Keith — mountain climbers, backpackers and hikers — have introduced their newest family member to their outdoor lifestyle early. Hiking as much as possible through her pregnancy and quarantine, Tricia wanted to hike for their maternity photos, too.
Guide to Planning an Olympic National Park Wedding
Personally, I think the Olympic National Park is extremely underrated. It’s one of the quietest spots in the continental United States, covers almost one million acres, and over 95% of the park is designated wilderness.
It boasts three unique ecosystems — glaciated mountains, 73 miles of rugged coastline, and temperate rainforest – meaning you could find vastly different landscapes by the hour. It’s an incredible place, and so far, is, my favorite place to explore in Washington.
Redwoods Forest Adventure Elopement
Jessica and Dave currently live in Pennsylvania and have family on both the east and west coasts. They realized that no matter where they decided to get married, they would have to fly family in to celebrate. That’s why they chose to fly everyone to an incredible location—the Redwoods National Park—and focused on giving them a great experience!
Mount Rainier Fall Engagement
Mount Rainier is known as “the mountain” here in western Washington. At 14,417 feet, it’s the state’s tallest mountain. It’s so tall and prominent, in fact, that it creates its own weather. Often, you’ll see Rainier wearing a “cap,” or lenticular clouds that regularly form atop it. That being said — reliable weather is not what Rainier is known for.
Guide to Planning a North Cascades Elopement
Where can you find jagged peaks, over 300 lakes and ponds, and more glaciers than anywhere else in the lower 48 states? The North Cascades National Park.
Rightly nicknamed the “American Alps”, the North Cascades have the most rugged mountains and alpine lakes in Washington State.
Mount Rainier National Park Adventure Engagement
Despite the threat of a wildfire at Rainier earlier in the week, Yun and Alex’s Mount Rainier engagement shoot was all I hoped it would be. They wanted the best views of Rainier and were happy to hike to a short distance to get them.
Olympic National Park Beach Styled Elopement
When Mavaney, the model bride, and I planned this styled elopement, we had snow and ice caves in mind. The Big Four Ice Caves to be specific. Neither of us had visited them, but we both agreed it would be the perfect place to shoot. Nature had other plans, however.
Backpacking to Havasupai Falls, Arizona
My husband, Zach, and I backpacked to Havasupai Falls in the Grand Canyon in April of 2018. It felt unbelievably surreal while we were there, and it still doesn’t feel like it really happened.
Havasupai and Mooney Falls are two of the most famous waterfalls in the world, and rightly so. Their turquoise waters, surrounded by red rocks, are stunning. The trip there is quite the trek though — 10 miles each way, to be specific.
7 Tips to Plan a Wedding in Mount Rainier National Park
There are few places in the U.S. as beautiful as America’s National Parks, and Mount Rainier is one that is close to my heart. Living in its shadow and adventuring there often, I am familiar with the challenges that come with planning a wedding at Rainier.
Here are my best tips to make your Rainier National Park wedding come to life.
One Week In Yellowstone National Park
Driving to Yellowstone with my husband and in laws last August was my first ever road trip! The trip was incredible and now I understand why Yellowstone is the most visited national park in the U.S. It shocks you with geysers and hot springs, then awes you with rolling hills, valleys of bison and beautiful lakes.
