Olympic National Park Beach Styled Elopement
When Mavaney, the model bride, and I planned this styled elopement, we had snow and ice caves in mind. The Big Four Ice Caves to be specific. Neither of us had visited them, but we both agreed it would be the perfect place to shoot.
Nature had other plans, however. After waiting months for this shoot to happen, the week prior to the shoot I was checking up on weather and trail conditions as usual. Unfortunately, there had been a massive avalanche at the ice caves, closing the trail. I messaged Mavaney and we scrambled to find a new location that would fit our vision of easy elegance. We landed on the Olympic National Park coast.
This particular beach is known for its black sand and large haystacks in the water. I knew this environment would provide the perfect contrast for Mavaney’s pink vintage dress. The warm sunshine, hazy light, and bright waters were the perfect cherry on top.
However, this shoot didn’t happen without help! Sound Bloom Florals Studio provided us with the most gorgeous bouquet. When organizing the shoot, I had sent her a photo of Mavaney’s dress and vague ideas of what I wanted in the bouquet. Jill didn’t hold back in delivering the most beautiful bouquet that coordinated with the dress and theme perfectly despite my lack of direction.
I’m so thankful to Kendetta Artistry as well. She did Mavaney’s hair and makeup, flawlessly. It was a good thing we went with an updo because the wind was strong and gusty! Last but not least, Erika, from Styled By Eri lent us a pink pearl necklace and it looked as if it were made for this dress. I couldn’t have pulled off such a beautiful shoot without these amazing ladies!
It was hard leaving the beach as the sun was setting. It was a perfect day, and I’m anticipating shooting here more often!
