Mount Rainier Hiking Maternity Photos

Tricia and Keith — mountain climbers, backpackers and hikers — have introduced their newest family member to their outdoor lifestyle early. Hiking as much as possible through her pregnancy and quarantine, Tricia wanted to hike for their maternity photos, too.

We had originally planned to go on a short, but steep hike with incredible views of Mount Rainier for their photos. Usually, by mid-July, this trail would be snow-free. However, keeping with 2020 trends, there was an unusual amount of snow at Rainier — so much so that others had recently reported losing the trail we wanted to hike. To err on the side of safety, we all felt it would be best to find an alternative location and agreed on this gem of a lake.

What might surprise you is that Keith had no idea that he was meant to be in these photos until just days before the shoot. Up until now, he’d successfully avoided all photo sessions! Although it wasn’t done on purpose, the surprise tactic worked well and, dare I say, it looks like he may have even enjoyed himself!

Congrats on your growing family, Tricia and Keith!
