Snow-Capped Mountain Elopement

It’s surprising to some that many of Washington’s peaks are covered in snow year-round. In the North Cascades, there are over 300 glaciers alone, and it’s one of the snowiest places in the contiguous United States!

As you can imagine, this makes the weather unpredictable in the mountains. You never know if you’ll see the mountains, a wall of clouds, or something in between.

Samantha and Julian were aware of this when they booked their elopement for the mountains in October. We were all expecting a moodier day, with a bit of typical autumn fog. As their day approached, I anxiously watched the weather forecast. It consistently said it would be clear and sunny.

When their elopement day finally arrived, the forecast held true. The mountains had their first dusting of snow on them for the season, and between the intermittent fall colors, and bright sun, it felt like we were living in every season all at once.

On our way up the mountain, we made stops to explore the most scenic viewpoints. When we arrived at the top of the mountain pass, they shared vows under Mount Shuksan.

Samantha had every detail planned out — including recording their vows, tiny skull and dinosaur accents, bouquet of silk flowers she arranged herself.

The entire day was so sweet, relaxed, and intentional. Thank you for letting me be a part of such a beautiful moment in your lives. Congratulations, Julian and Sam!
