Picture Lake Marriage Proposal
Allison and Justin were visiting all three of Washington’s national parks via camper van. They headed to Mount Rainier first, then up to the North Cascades before ferrying to the Olympic Peninsula. Allison suspected that Justin would propose on this trip, but she didn’t know where or when it would happen.
Justin had ideas of proposing in front of a lake and mountains, and we settled on proposing at the picturesque boardwalk in front of Picture Lake. On the day of, I waited at Picture Lake’s overlook and saw their van drive around the lake. Immediately after, I got into position near the boardwalk, where Justin and I acknowledged one another as we passed by.
He had two chances to propose on the boardwalk easily. Once when they walked from the first overlook to the second overlook, and once when they were retracing their steps back to the van.
They went to view the lake from the first overlook and crossed the boardwalk to reach the second overlook while others were on it. When they finished at the second overlook, the boardwalk was clear.
Justin got down on one knee, proposed, and it was perfect! Allison said yes, and afterward we made our way up the mountain, stopping at all the viewpoints along the way. It wasn’t until we were wrapping up that it really hit her, though. I was photographing them from a distance, and on my walk back to where they were, I looked up and Justin was wiping happy tears from Allison’s cheeks. I stopped in my tracks and photographed them from afar, letting them cherish this moment.
After a few more photos, they opted to watch the remainder of the sunset from the trail. It was the perfect end to a beautiful evening!
Congratulations, Allison and Justin!
