Jordan knew that my younger sister, Shae, really wanted their proposal photographed. When he contacted me shortly after Christmas, I was thrilled to be included in such a special moment. Nothing stays a secret in my family for long...
Growing up on the East side of Washington meant that trips to the beach were a special, once a year occasion, complete with a six hour drive each way. Now that I live in Tacoma, I'm taking full advantage of the proximity to the Pacific and I'm lucky to have married a West coast native who knows all of Western Washington's best kept secrets!
Megan and Garrett's wedding was so much fun! They added many personal touches to their day, from their hand written vow books to the book arch Garrett made! I loved their nerdy theme (Megan's own words!) of books that took over McCormick Woods Golf Club. Every table displayed one of their favorite authors, with the bride and groom table displaying Tolkien. Coincidence that Garrett's wedding band has Elvish on it? I think not.
Diana and Preston held their wedding at the Carnation Tree Farm, and it’s my new favorite venue! I loved the rows of Christmas trees and large grassy area for the ceremony and reception. The getting ready space was in the loft of a historic barn, and it provided gorgeous lighting!
I’ve been dying to shoot at Diablo Lake, ever since my first visit there, over a year ago! Diablo Lake is known for its turquoise water and I love that it has the look of an adventure session without the effort of hiking to get there. It’s got the most amazing viewpoint, and it’s only a few steps past the parking lot.
As you’re getting closer to your wedding day, you’re probably feeling a little overwhelmed with planning an awesome reception (at least I was). Since my own wedding day, I’ve experienced many receptions as a wedding photographer. Here are 10 tried and true tips I’ve learned to make your wedding reception the best it can be!
I met Jill Em through an online photography community and I was thrilled when she accepted my offer to model for an adventure shoot. She and her husband, Chris, had the perfect wardrobe for an elopement styled shoot – the outfits they wore for their own elopement in Hawaii! All that was left to do was choose a location!
When I asked Megan and Garrett if they had a special place they'd like to shoot their engagement photos at, I didn't think they would suggest shooting on a ferry! I immediately loved the idea, although I hadn't a clue how it was a meaningful location to them. As it turns out, during the early days of their relationship, Megan commuted via ferry, so they've spent plenty of time together at the terminal and on the ferry.
