Wow, where do I start with Chris and Margaret’s wedding story!?
Let me begin by saying they are both extraordinary people. I gathered that they were kind and fun people from the short time we had together during their engagement session and communications leading up to their wedding, but it was their wedding guests that tipped me off on how amazing these two really are.
I think the people you surround yourself with says a lot about who you are, and Chris and Margaret’s family and friends were genuine, lighthearted, and full of joy. I could tell that, no matter the time and place, this atmosphere was normal for them – and it was infectious.
Besides that, I loved experiencing my first traditional Quaker ceremony. This was one of the only traditional elements they included in their day, and it was beautiful. Guests were given time during the ceremony to stand up and say a few words about the bride and groom. Chris and Margaret’s kindness, generosity, and love for others was echoed by all.
I remember one guest mention that Chris is known for creating community wherever he goes. Growing up in Sandwich, MA that took place through garage bands jam sessions, and here in Seattle it’s taken shape through Jet City Improv, where he and Margaret both work. It seemed like the entire crew came out to show their support! Mike, Jet City’s outreach director, also officiated the wedding.
Now for the details! If you’ve seen any of the teaser photos, you may have noticed Margaret didn’t wear a dress – she wore a jumpsuit! It was lace and bridal, but with an epic twist on the expected. One of the highlights of my night was hearing her joking around with nieces and nephews while jumping on the venue’s trampoline, shouting, “THIS IS WHY I WORE PANTS!” Her hair and makeup, done by Salon Maison, was stunning and looked flawless throughout the evening.
Margaret and Chris chose a fun menu for the evening as well. Veraci Pizza was onsite making fresh pizzas from a mobile wood-fired oven, and there was a dessert bar full of donuts and cupcakes from Top Pot, Macrina Bakery, and Cupcake Royale.
The reception was equally fun and relaxed. Swan Trail Farms is perfect for family-friendly weddings – complete with a trampoline, swings, games, and plenty of open grass other activities. Plus, it’s beautiful!
Congratulations and thank you again for including me in your special day, Margaret and Chris!
