Confessions From Pacific Northwest Wedding Vendors

We all want to know what wedding vendors think behind closed doors. Now is your chance to find out. Hear what local Pacific Northwest vendors want their brides and grooms to know and what will make you their favorite customer.

Since I’ve personally worked with each of these vendors, each image shows their product or service.

Invitations — Heritage Creative Co.

What is one piece of advice you’d give brides and grooms when using your services?

Though every wedding timeline is different (maybe you're planning a quick elopement or have a long engagement season ahead), keep in mind that the ideal timeline for stationery is to send out Save the Dates about 6-8 months before the big day and your wedding invitations about 6-8 weeks beforehand. Then add about 2 months to these timelines when booking your stationery. Your wedding paper goods set the tone for your big day so it's important to build in this extra time to chat with your invitation designer in order to make your vision come true.

What do customers do that you love?

I love when a client has a vision for her wedding day when it comes to style, colors, and overall tone. Brides that send their Pinterest board to their stationery designer help make the process go much more smoothly when going the custom order route. This is where I come in and can work my magic to ensure the wedding stationery, programs, menus, etc. all align with the overall aesthetic of the wedding.

Hair and makeup — The PNW Bride

What is one piece of advice you’d give brides and grooms when using your services?

Always give a little wiggle room on your day of getting ready leading up to photos. We’ve found that giving an extra 45 minutes at the end of makeup and hair allows time to get dressed and not rush.

What do customers do that you love?

We love when clients come ready with clean hair and face and when they make sure everyone is on time to get hair or makeup done.

Wedding planner – Passionate Weddings

What is one piece of advice you’d give brides and grooms when using your services?

If you're worried about your guests running late to your ceremony, send out your invitation with the ceremony start time 30 minutes prior to your ACTUAL ceremony start time. Behind the scene, your venue and coordinator will know that the ceremony will start at the actual scheduled time. That way the wedding party and bride walks down the aisle with a full house of guests.

You can also save costs by ordering an SUV Uber to transport the wedding party around for pre-ceremony photos and transportation to and from the venue after the reception. It will save you time and money rather than having to hire a private transportation company.

What do customers do that you love?

I love it when couples join in for their cocktail hour. We help couples plan a perfect wedding day schedule so they can take all wedding party and formal family photos before the ceremony. We want our couples to enjoy every moment of their day. During the cocktail hour, they get to mingle with their guest before the main event. Lots of laughs and selfies take place during cocktail hour.

Wedding planner and florist — Chloe Nicole Weddings

What is one piece of advice you’d give brides and grooms when using your services?

Building trust with me is key. From the time my couples sign the contract and I begin working for them, they must trust me! Whether I'm designing your event, coordinating your day, or arranging flowers, my couples have to trust that I will do everything within my power to make your wedding gorgeous, cohesive, and seamless.

What do customers do that you love?

I love it when my couples give me creative freedom with florals! While I think Pinterest has so many amazing ideas (some of which are my designs), I want to design a look that is uniquely you and gorgeous without copying someone else designs. When my couples trust me to design something unique to them, I have more fun with it and in turn my couples receive a product that is poured into with love and creativity.

We know choosing a venue is a huge decision. We want couples to feel comfortable and rest easy in knowing Mark and I will do everything we can to make sure the property looks beautiful and set the tone for your day to go as smoothly as possible.

What do customers do that you love?

We love it when our clients appreciate what we have built! We love it when our clients are truly 100% in love with where they are getting married! It makes us feel so good to know others who are committed to each other have chosen our property to share the biggest day of their lives!

Photographer — M. Laine Photography

What is one piece of advice you’d give brides and grooms when using your services?

My best advice is for brides and grooms to take the wedding day timeline they set up with their photographer seriously. They should try to stick to the schedule and be on time throughout the wedding day. Running behind schedule can be stressful and can limit what your photographer can capture. However, if you do happen to fall behind schedule, stay relaxed and carefree by letting your wedding planner figure out the details.

Photographers love it when their brides and grooms:

Photographers love it when their couples take advantage of golden hour. Schedule your engagement photos two hours before sunset for the best lighting, or plan your wedding day around it for the best portraits possible.

Rentals — The Meaningful Details Rentals

What is one piece of advice you’d give brides and grooms when using your services?

I’d advise couples that have just gotten engaged not to race out and purchase wedding decor. By all means, purchase that special sign to hang over your bed or the keepsake box to hold the rings, but the centerpiece decor, candles, lanterns, signage and anything you’d rather not keep forever can be rented. Just think how liberating it will be after the wedding when all the decor is gone and not stored in boxes in the garage or guest room!

What do customers do that you love?

I love it when couples show their excitement when we begin planning the wedding decor details. It really is contagious and I never tire of seeing that genuine excitement!

Travel inspired decor — Mia Nicole Design Co.

What is one piece of advice you’d give brides and grooms when using your services?

With my hand-lettering business, I personalize a lot of maps for weddings, showers and anniversaries with the bride/groom's favorite quote or last name/wedding date. I love it when brides and grooms get creative and use these maps as an alternative guest sign in! They make for unique decoration that can be framed and hung in homes for years to come.

What do customers do that you love?

My customers are the best — really, they make my job so fun!  I love when customers give me an idea of what they want such as the saying/wording and then let me have creative freedom. They trust me to make their piece truly special and unique. My next favorite part is when I get to show them what I created.

Cupcakes — Hello, Cupcake

What is one piece of advice you’d give brides and grooms when using your services?

Brides and grooms should think about the cupcake display as a whole when deciding on the number of flavors, how many of each flavor to order, and how each flavor will be decorated. It's easy for the display to look busy or cluttered if they try to incorporate too many design elements.

What do customers do that you love?

We love it when customers put a lot of thought into how they will display their cupcakes and other desserts. Arranging the dessert table in a thoughtful way that coordinates with the aesthetic of the wedding versus just having a cupcake stand by itself on a table really makes a big impact!
